Glossary
Comfort Zone
Not where you stay safe - where you finally tell the truth. The comfort zone is not a trap to escape. It is the only place calibrated to your actual frequency. At StarCozi, the comfort zone is the genius zone - the territory where depth, authenticity, and real work become possible.
Speed is not the Answer
The founding philosophical position of StarCozi and its most direct challenge to the culture that profits from your exhaustion. Not anti-ambition. Not anti-achievement. A precise argument that the pace, noise, and performance demanded by modern productivity culture is not producing the lives, work, or wellbeing it promises. The answer has always been depth, not speed.
Depth over Speed
The StarCozi refusal to mistake speed for progress. A world addicted to output taught you that faster meant better. It didn’t. It just meant more. Depth over velocity is the deliberate choice to go further instead of faster and to let things matter, let understanding arrive fully, and let your life move at the pace of something real.
Nervous System Living
The practice of making decisions about pace, environment, relationships, inputs, and daily structure in active conversation with your nervous system rather than in defiance of it. Nervous system living treats the body’s signals as information rather than inconvenience, and designs life around what genuinely nourishes rather than what merely performs.
Nervous System Reset
Not a spa day. Not a productivity hack. A nervous system reset is the intentional practice of returning your body and mind from a state of chronic activation to a state of baseline safety. For women who have spent years or decades in a masked, overstimulated, and under-supported state, a reset is not a luxury. It is a biological necessity and the beginning of everything else.
Unbecoming
The ongoing practice of releasing everything that was layered onto you by systems, relationships, and cultures that needed you smaller, faster, or more manageable than you actually are. Unbecoming is not loss. It is excavation. What remains after the unbecoming is the original - and it has been waiting the entire time.
Slow Frequency
The particular register at which a depth first woman naturally operates - slower to decide, longer to process, deeper in engagement, more deliberate in output. Slow frequency is not a deficit. It is a different relationship with time, one that produces work and relationships and lives of unusual depth precisely because it refuses to be rushed.
Slow Living for Sensitives
A different kind of slow living than the one sold in lifestyle magazines. Slow living for sensitive people is not aesthetic. It is not about linen and candles, although those are welcome. It is about building a life at a pace your nervous system can actually sustain. It is the radical act of refusing to operate at a speed that requires you to abandon yourself to keep up.
Masking
The exhausting, largely unconscious practice of calibrating your behavior, communication, and presentation to what a given room will tolerate at the cost of your actual self. Masking is most common in neurodivergent women who learned early that existing as they were would cost them something they could not afford to lose.
High Masking Exhaustion
The particular, bone deep fatigue of being so good at appearing neurotypical that no one believes you are struggling. High masking exhaustion doesn’t look like burnout from the outside. It looks like competence. It looks like keeping up. It looks like handling it. Meanwhile, the woman inside is running a second operating system at full capacity just to get through the day.
Unmasking in Midlife
The slow, nonlinear process of removing the performance layers built up over a lifetime and returning to an original self. Unmasking in midlife is not a single moment of revelation. It is a series of small choices to stop pretending, to let the real response show, to say what you need, to build a life that no longer requires you to be someone else just to survive it.
Velveteen Boundary
Not a wall. Not a warning. A Velveteen Boundary is the StarCozi practice of protecting your nervous system with warmth instead of armor - soft in delivery, unbreakable in devotion. For women who spent a lifetime performing for everyone else’s comfort, it is the quiet, revolutionary act of finally making your inner world non-negotiable.
Neurodivergent Identity
Process of understanding who you actually are once the mask comes off. After a lifetime of adapting, performing, and shrinking to fit, neurodivergent identity is the excavation work of finding the self that was always underneath. It is not a fixed destination. It is a practice of returning, again and again, to what is true.
Wonderfully Boring Life
The slow, repetitive, deeply ordinary life that the attention economy will spend every resource it has making sure you never choose. The same walk. The same ritual. The same unhurried morning that belongs entirely to you. At StarCozi, the wonderfully boring life is the whole point.
Narrative Archaeology
The practice of excavating authentic identity from beneath the layers of conditioned behavior, inherited story, and performed self that accumulate over a lifetime. Narrative archaeology does not destroy what it finds - it holds each layer up to the light and asks: is this mine, or did I borrow it to survive?
Orbit
The StarCozi name for the natural, elliptical rhythm of a woman’s inner life in the way she moves closer to herself and further away, cycles through clarity and fog, expansion and retreat, without ever truly leaving her own gravitational center. It is the honest pattern of a deep processing nervous system doing exactly what it was designed to do. You are not lost when you pull back. You are in Orbit and you will return, as you always have, to exactly where you need to be.
Autistic Burnout
Not the burnout you recover from with a weekend off. Autistic burnout is a state of profound physical, emotional, and cognitive exhaustion that accumulates over months or years of masking, overextending, and operating in environments built for a different nervous system. It is deeper than typical burnout, longer-lasting, and often invisible to everyone except the woman living it.
Late Diagnosis Grief
The grief that comes after the diagnosis, not before it. When a woman learns in her 30s, 40s, or 50s that she is neurodivergent, she doesn’t just receive information. She receives the weight of every year she spent believing she was broken, every relationship strained by something she didn’t have a name for, every version of herself she abandoned trying to fit. That grief is real, valid, and largely unacknowledged by the world. At StarCozi it’s acknowledged.
ADHD Women Over 40
The women the system missed. Told they were too sensitive, too scattered, too emotional, too intense for decades before anyone thought to look more carefully. Arriving at a midlife Dx doesn’t mean you are behind. It means you survived an entire life without the map everyone else was handed at the start. They are the ones who carried the heaviest invisible load the longest and are now, finally, building a life that tells the truth about who they actually are.
Neurodivergent Self employment
The decision to stop trying to survive inside systems that were not designed for you, and to build something that is. For many neurodivergent women, self employment is not an ambition. It is an exit strategy from a world that has cost them too much for too long. It is the beginning of a life designed around how they actually work, not how they have been told they should.
Cozy Room
Physical and digital spaces designed with deliberate attention to sensory comfort, beauty, and nervous system safety. A cozy room is not merely decorated - it is curated as a form of self-respect, a tangible statement that the space where you spend your time deserves to nourish you.
