There’s no ‘right’ time: Just time and what you do with it

How many times have you told yourself, “I’ll start when the time is right”? Maybe it’s a new job, a creative project, or even just rearranging your living room for that extra dose of hygge (cozi nook). But here’s the thing, waiting for the ‘right’ time is like waiting for the last piece of a puzzle that never actually existed.

Time: Human made myth

Let’s zoom out for a moment. Our whole concept of time? Totally invented by humans. We made up hours, days, deadlines, and New Year’s resolutions. We even decided when a week starts and ends. Sure, the sun rises and sets, but all those neat little boxes on your calendar? That’s just us trying to make sense of it all.

And yet, we let these imaginary lines decide when we’re ‘allowed’ to start something new. We tell ourselves, ‘next Monday, I’ll begin,’ or ‘after my birthday, I’ll change.’ But honestly, the universe doesn’t care what day it is. There’s just time and what you do with it.

Perfectionism’s sneaky trap

Here’s where perfectionism loves to sneak in. It whispers, ‘Wait until you’re ready. Wait until everything is perfect.’ But perfection is a moving target. If you’re always waiting for the stars to align, you’ll be waiting forever, and that cozi reading corner or dream project will stay just that - a dream.

Cozi truth: Start now, start small

What if, instead, you embraced the Danish spirit of hygge - not just in your home, but in your approach to time? Make your moments comfortable, imperfect, and real. Light a candle, make a cup of tea, and take one tiny step. Rearrange one cushion. Write one sentence. Sign up for that class. The ‘right’ time isn’t a date on the calendar; it’s the moment you decide to begin.

Time is yours: Use it your way

So next time you catch yourself waiting for the ‘right’ time, remember: time isn’t a gatekeeper. It’s a cozi blanket you can wrap around yourself whenever you want. There’s only now, and what you choose to do with it.

Let’s stop waiting for permission from the calendar. Let’s make our own right time - today.

What’s one small thing you’ve been waiting to start?
