✦ On what the birds know: 023

Nobody told the bird to optimize its song. Nobody gave it a productivity framework, a content calendar, a metric for whether the singing was performing well enough to justify the energy expenditure. It sings because it is built to sing - at the hour it is built to sing, in the register it was given, without apology for the bird in the next tree doing it differently or the world below moving too fast to properly listen. It migrates not because someone scheduled the journey but because something internal and ancient and completely trustworthy says now - and it goes, without a five-year plan, without a risk assessment, without first waiting until conditions are perfect or the timing makes more sense or it has accumulated enough credentials to justify the distance. The bird does not perform being a bird. It simply is one, completely, in every ordinary moment of its ordinary bird life - and there is a wholeness to that, a self possession so complete it reads, to the watching human, as something close to grace.

The birds are not doing less. They are doing exactly what they are built for, at the pace they were designed for, without spending a single moment of their one life apologizing for it.

This is the whole StarCozi argument, witnessed in the backyard on a Tuesday morning. Not hustle. Not balance. Not the performance of productivity. Just the quiet, complete, entirely sufficient act of being exactly what you are - in your season, at your pace, with your particular song - and trusting, the way the bird trusts without needing to call it trust, that the living itself is enough. You were not built for someone else’s migration pattern. You were not built for someone else’s song. The depth, the slowness, the particular frequency of your inner world - that is not a liability to be managed. That is the whole point of you. The bird already knows this. It has always known. It is waiting, with considerable patience, for you to remember.
